Sanjeevani… Life Beyond Cancer has been a new lease of life to a state like Guwahati which has a high rate of cancer. The B. Baruah Cancer Institute needed a center which can provide a smooth transition of cancer survivors as well as cancer patients to get back to normal life and Sanjeevani is playing the role of a ‘hand holder’. The team Sanjeevani has been also involved with creating awareness among the people at various levels. Besides creating awareness it is running a toy bank for the children in the hospital which is so important for little fighters to endure the stay in the hospital as well as the process of healing. As a part of the social work curriculum our Student Social Workers (SSW) are placed in Sanjeevani where they get the opportunity to understand the role Sanjeevani plays and the role of the social worker working with the cancer patients and survivors. The SSWs also got an opportunity to organize awareness programmes and short films as well. I wish Sanjeevani my best wishes to carry on their good work in future and feel blessed to be involved with the organization and provide necessary support for their work.
